Research-Based Learning (RBL)
Here at STS, we value each student’s independence and pursuit in personal interests. A Research-Based Learning curriculum allows students to work at their own pace in their subjects. Those that tend to learn quickly can move on to other topics without having to wait for others, while those that need more time to complete their classwork can take their time to learn and review the material thoroughly.
With research-based learning, classes meet periodically to discuss the material that was assigned. The teacher encourages that each student has knowledge about the material and the class time can be spent discussing this at length, clarifying misunderstood concepts and presenting the next topic. This type of learning requires a certain level of discipline and teaches students how to work independently.
