Today marked the first edition of our Sunflower Trilingual School Model United Nations Conference!
In the context of our Borderless World thematic learning activities, our STS students joined forces with delegates from Norwich International School to represent member states of the United Nations in a simulation of the General Assembly.
Out of two topics, our delegates chose to address the pressing issue of global access to education for girls. They collaborated and drafted resolutions aimed at eradicating the gender inequality that affects school systems in many nations.
Solutions conceptualized by our delegates included creating a Power for Girls fund aimed at fighting poverty, and taking measures to lower rates of HIV. Awards were given for Outstanding Position Paper, Outstanding Speaking Skills, Outstanding Writing Skills, Outstanding Collaborative Spirit, and Outstanding Delegate.
The Outstanding Delegate award went to Shahmeena Khan from Norwich International School, representing Canada.
A warm thanks to our friends from Norwich for coming, and congratulations to our students for being the leaders of tomorrow!
