On Monday, 27 November 2023, our school celebrated Loy Krathong, a traditional Thai festival of gratitude and respect for the water. It was a fun and colorful day full of activities and learning. Our students made their own krathongs, which are beautiful floating baskets decorated with flowers, candles and incense. They displayed their creative work and some of them won prizes for their designs. We also had a variety of games and crafts that taught the students about Thai culture and history.
After setting our krathongs free in the water, we enjoyed a delicious feast of Thai dishes and desserts, such as Kanom Krok, pad thai, mango sticky rice, Thai fruit juices, and coconut ice cream. The highlight of the day was the parade, where all the students and teachers wore their Thai costumes and played Thai musical instruments. We danced and sang along to the festive tunes and then released our krathongs into the water. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our connection to nature and each other.
