It is often said that a father is a son’s first hero and a daughter’s first love. Our STS students gave meaning to this adage as they celebrated their fathers on the occasion of Fathers’ Day, while also honoring the enduring legacy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
To get into the proper spirit, our secondary students prepared booths showcasing the impressive achievements of their beloved late King, notably his celebration of technology and his groundbreaking framework of Sufficiency Economy. This was an important reminder for our students of the gifts he has passed on to the Thai people.
Our students also showed respect by offering food and presents to the monks who joined us in prayer in the morning. This activity was followed by a beautiful ceremony in the afternoon, during which all students got to shine bright in front of the most important man in their lives.
Performances included traditional Thai dancing, a Chinese choir filled with hauntingly beautiful voices, and a heartwarming English-language skit that put our students comedic chops at the forefront. All three languages and cultures united to sing a single message: our love for our fathers is unconditional, and we owe them respect and kindness in return for the devotion they have shown us, even as children become adults.
Happy Fathers’ Day to all!
